Dear Sir/ Madam

 

My name is Harry Macer, I am currently

in my last year studying media and

photography at Farnham College. I am

looking to take a gap year to gain better

knowledge into how the media industry

is run. I also currently work with disabled

children at a local charity hoping

to take this experience to spend

two months at a summer camp

in America. Furthermore, I am a good

team player, I like to look at more of the

conceptual and emotional themes to

my work. You can see this in a majority

of my work as demonstrated on the website.

 

 

When looking at more of the experience, I have explored a range of subjects, from making a promotional film to a start of a TV drama and a music video. A majority of my work is based around my experience of photography and exploring different camera angles in order to tell a story. Understanding the conceptual themes for video when linking to this and how

this affects the video overall. My other skills and achievements include:

​

• Video editing techniques and the theory behind both non-linear and linear techniques to video editing also mixing this in with my photography work

 

• Videography and studio photography; these are kind of based around the same thing when exploring the use of the studio and how lighting is perceived in both a video format and composition effectively

 

• Analytical and explanations of different formats for instance analysing and comparing two different structures of music videos or how a certain scene in a drama had been edited

 

• Structuring a story and idea to create a unique story or even aspect to the world for instance writing a synopsis and creating a story board for a production of a video or even photograph.

 

This also includes refining ideas for my photography work and media productions effectively and keeping the same theme throughout. For instance, with the music video “Rocketman” I had to refine the idea in order to make it look as successful as possible for instance with the subject drawing and the lighting was made to make the image look more condensed. This also includes refining my photography work and developing one idea to make a successful composition.

 

• Pre-production is also a very key part, especially in video production, I know how to plan out the production for a video for instance creating a production schedule, writing risk assessments and holding group meetings in order to refine the ideas.

 

• I can also pitch my ideas to the clients or even audience, giving clear communication skills to both the client and members of the group. Planning the most important for the music video in general.
